Five times in the past ten years, whoever wins the Backyard Bowl between Jenks and Union loses the playoff game.

So, in our Wendy’s Game of the Week, we’ll start with Jenks, who won the Backyard Bowl.

How do the Trojans keep the same outcome?

"Certainly, we're very familiar with each other,” said Head Coach Allan Trimble. “Coach Frid and I have been going at it for a long time, so probably not going to be a lot of changes in the game plan. It always boils down to the little things, the turnovers, kick return. You just never know in this game."

Senior wide receiver Isaiah Epps added, "We have to go into the game knowing that they've really progressed a lot since Week 2. We've got to keep our head on straight."

Another common question when these two rivals meet up is where have they improved as a team from regular season Week 2 to postseason Week 2.

As for Jenks, Trimble says his team is more grounded.

“We've got the right pieces in the right place,” he said. Again, you can throw all that out the window when it comes to this game. But again, we're still growing, still young, but not as young, so I think we're in better shape."

Youth and experience have made a nice mesh on the offensive side of the ball. Sophomore Ian Corwin has made a connection with Epps.

"Really, just in practice, just capable of showing him that I can catch anything in front of me, Epps explained. “Just catching the ball, just letting him trust me, so whenever he's looking for someone, it's usually me."
