We’re tracking a system arriving today that will bring a chance of showers and storms to the area including some spotty showers this morning across northern OK.  One of two of the storms this afternoon and evening could be strong to near severe across far southeastern OK or extreme east-central section of the state.

This system will move east of the area later tonight leaving the state in good shape for Wednesday and Thursday, including most of the extended Thanksgiving Holiday. Another system may near the area later in the weekend or early next week.

The timeline for the area today will mention a few spotty showers this morning through midday but the better window for the metro will be from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. and then from 3 p.m. to midnight across eastern or southeastern OK.

The instability and moisture may be lacking across NE OK but some strong dynamic energy may overcome the instability-moisture issues to produce a few severe storms. The better overlay of severe weather parameters (including higher moisture and instability) will occur across south central and east Texas, just south and east of the DFW metro region northward into southeastern OK.

Northwest winds and slightly cooler air will arrive Wednesday and should stick around Thursday across the state. Morning lows in the upper 30s and lower 40s will be followed by highs in upper 50s Wednesday and into the mid-60s Thanksgiving Day.

Friday morning a weak system will cross the area but with only a few clouds and a wind shift for eastern OK. Friday morning shoppers will discover morning lows in the upper 30s or lower 40s and daytime highs in the upper 50s or lower 60s.

This weekend another fast moving system should brush the area either Saturday or Sunday but the lack of low level moisture will keep the mention of showers or storms for Sunday night into Monday and mainly across far eastern OK into Arkansas. Temperatures this weekend will feature lows in the upper 30s and lower 40s and daytime highs in the lower 60s.

The pattern does appear to remain active into December and could also support much colder air advancing into the nation later next week.  This could impact part of the state later next week into the 1st weekend of December.

Thanks for reading the Tuesday morning weather discussion and blog.

Have a super great day!
