Toddler Injured In Tulsa House Fire Flown To Texas Burn Center

A 2-year-old Tulsa boy is in Texas hospital, fighting for his life after a neighbor rescued him from a burning house.

The baby is now at the Shriners Burns Hospital in Galveston, Texas for treatment. 

Neighbors said they didn't waste any time when they saw their neighbors in trouble.

Tulsa firefighters were called to the home in the 5300 block of South Utica Avenue around 11 a.m. Thursday.

As they arrived at the scene, Abigail Endreblado was already in rescue mode.

"The smoke, so I got in the house…so I got the kid, saw the little baby and, man, I don't know," he said.

Endreblado found the 2-year-old boy, who he said had burns all over his body.

Stan May with the Tulsa Fire Department said, "He did what he thought he had to do - everybody needs to make that decision for themselves. Usually not the safest move, but he felt he could do it, and he did it without getting hurt."

The boy's mother also escaped, and firefighters said her two daughters were at school during the fire.

Their dog, Thor, is fine and has somewhere to stay with for now thanks to John Arrambide, who doesn’t know the family that well.

"A friend of a friend is friends with them," he said.

But, Arrambide said it doesn't matter how close they are.

"Anytime anything happens in your neighborhood, you wanna make sure everybody's gonna be okay. Kinda have to look out for each other, even if you don't really talk to each other very often," he said.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation but firefighters are confident it started in the garage.

Firefighters said the house should be okay - it's the garage and attic that could cost about $50,000 to fix.
