A man and woman are in custody following a Tulsa police pursuit.

Police said the man, 19-year-old Tyler Larson, was carrying a loaded gun inside the stolen car. The woman, 28-year-old Venessa Didonna, was booked on a complaint of joyriding.

The chase started around 6 a.m. at Lewis and Admiral after police spotted what they say was a stolen GMC Acadia.

The suspect turned south on Peoria and headed to Brookside at 75 to 90 mph, causing TPD to terminate the pursuit due to possible traffic danger.

A News On 6 photojournalist spotted the vehicle going northbound on Lewis around 21st Street. After hearing that, Tulsa Police picked the chase back up and they took the suspects into custody at 6th and South Lewis.

Authorities used stop sticks to bring the Acadia to a halt. Larson and Didonna came out of the SUV with their hands up and were taken into custody. At certain times, they resisted arrest but were placed into handcuffs.

Police say they found stolen items in the vehicle.

News On 6 Reporter Joseph Holloway asked Larson why he did what he did.

"Someone told me I had to do it. I needed food, I needed a place to go. I was cold, I don't wanna be out in the cold. I don't got no family around here."

Officers said Larson ran into Jessica Paine's car, with her infant son inside.

"I mean, this kind of crap, that's why I left Kansas because it's not safe there and now, I don't feel safe so...," Paine said.

Police searched the stolen GMC Acadia and found a gun inside the SUV.

TPD said it also believes Larson took items from other people in the area.

"Victims in this neighborhood that had their cars vandalized, stolen wallets in the car and things of that nature," said TPD Cpl. Dan Miller.

Larson has a message for Paine.

"I'm really, really sorry. I wasn't trying to hit your vehicle. I wasn't trying to hurt your child," Larson said.

But Paine said an apology will not help repair her car.

"Now that I have to fix this, I don't know what I'm gonna do," Paine said.

Larson was booked on complaints possession of stolen vehicle, eluding (endangering others), possession of firearm while committing a felony, transporting a loaded firearm in vehicle, possession of stolen property.
