Two people died in a Muskogee County house fire that officials say started Wednesday morning.

Firefighters got the call just before 9:45 a.m. and arrived to find the entire home on fire.

They said the home located in the 3600 block of South 85th Street East near the Hopewell Park Public Use area was destroyed in the blaze.

A neighbor, Gail Ward said she had been friends with the victims for about 10 years.

"When my parents, both my parents passed away, they were there with food they were there doing anything I needed, to help take care of me.  It's a sad loss for the community," said Gail Ward.

Ward says the couple were in their late 50s or early 60s.

Authorities are not releasing the names of the couple until all their family has been notified.

The cause of the house fire remains under investigation.
