Tulsa Seeks Input Into New Peoria Avenue Bus Route

The City of Tulsa wants your input into a new public bus line that leaders believe has the potential to give a big boost to economic development along Peoria Avenue.

The Peoria Bus Rapid Transit or BRT will be a first of its kind for the city - a reliable bus service along a huge stretch of Peoria, the city says all the way from 63rd Street North to 81st and Lewis.

The route could include a series of mini-bus stations at major intersections like one at 11th and Peoria.

Tulsa is holding two workshops at Spirit Life Church at 5300 South Peoria, and the Rudisill Library at Pine between Martin Luther King Boulevard and Peoria.

Both workshops begin at 5:30 p.m.

At the workshops, riders can review and discuss routing and station location options.

The city says the BRT will follow the current Peoria route, which is the heaviest traveled route in the city.

The plan will overhaul everything, creating new and better station platforms, shelters, buses, amenities even architecture.  

It's all paid for by voter-approved taxes.

Tulsa Transit expects the route to begin running in the spring of 2019
