Happy Mother’s Day, Green Country! Mom deserves some great outdoor weather, and fortunately, we get to deliver that on this Mother’s Day!

Plenty more sunshine is on the way today, giving us another quick warm-up. Look for highs in the low to mid-80s this afternoon! It will be breezier than yesterday, with south winds gusting to 20 miles per hour during the middle of the day.

Temperatures will continue to climb as we head into the work week, with borderline toasty conditions on Monday. A continued steady south breeze will help push our highs into the upper 80s Monday afternoon, and a few spots west of Tulsa could approach the 90-degree mark!

Clouds will be on a gradual increase on Tuesday as the next upper-level storm system takes shape across the Rockies. We’ll turn increasingly windy on Tuesday and Wednesday as strong south winds will keep us quite warm with lows in the upper 60s and highs in the mid-80s. Humidity will be on the increase as well, another sign of stormier conditions to come.

Scattered storms are expected to develop across western Oklahoma by late Tuesday afternoon, with storms eventually shifting into eastern Oklahoma late Tuesday night or Wednesday morning. Severe weather will be a possibility with this first wave of storms.

As upper-level energy briefly shifts further north, we may get a bit of a lull in storm chances on Wednesday. But, storms become more likely once again late Thursday and into Friday as the atmosphere “reloads”, so to speak. Severe weather is once again expected from Thursday into Friday across much of Oklahoma.

Those storm chances could linger into at least the first half of next weekend, and in addition to severe weather, there will be the potential for more flooding concerns as some spots could pick up several inches of rain from mid-week into next weekend. Details will become more refined in the next few days, but just remain weather aware and we will keep you advised!
