Police say a man stabbed with a sword during an argument inside a Tulsa apartment early Thursday has died.

The victim was identified as Ronnie Beetz. Police arrested his girlfriend in his death.

Shortly after 1:35 a.m., officers were called to the Parkview Terrace apartments in the 5900 block of South Santa Fe about a stabbing.

They arrived and found the victim and his girlfriend at the apartment. Police said the woman told officers she picked up a "katana-type" sword and stabbed her boyfriend in the abdomen after he slapped and tried to choke her during that argument.

"She said it was there, it was accessible to her and that's what she was able to grab," said Tulsa Police Homicide Sergeant Dave Walker.

Walker confirmed later Thursday morning that the woman was arrested on a complaint of second-degree murder. She was identified as Micca Lois Thompson, 38.

Authorities said Beetz was barely conscious when they arrived at the apartment and didn't respond to any of their questions. EMSA took the victim to the hospital where he died in surgery.

Homicide detectives took Thompson in for questioning. According to her arrest and booking report, Micca Thompson had no visible injuries and had multiple chances to get away from Beetz during the incident.

Officers also said the couple's two children under the age of 13 were in the apartment at the time of the incident. Police have not said where the kids are being placed.

Thompson is being held on a $500,000 bond. Beetz is Tulsa's 32nd murder victim of 2017, Walker said.
