Today is an Ozone Alert Day for the Tulsa metropolitan area.

We’re looking good for the next few days before the next major system nears the area early next week.   We’re experiencing some wonderful weather this morning with dry air and clear sky across the area.   Temps are in the 50s across eastern Oklahoma.   The upper air flow may bring another storm complex from the front range of the Rockies into the northwestern part of the state later tonight.   We think this system should mostly remain to the west but will keep a very low pop for the western sections where some hi-res model data indicates a few showers may occur.   There may also be a few showers and storms that could brush the far western areas of southeastern Oklahoma later tonight into predawn, but the odds are also quite low.

Weather Alerts

Temperatures may move back into the lower 90s this weekend with higher heat index values by Sunday and Monday as a mid-level thermal ridge expands across southern Kansas and part of northern Oklahoma.  But the next major western U.S trough should bring the threat of strong to near severe storms back to the state sometime during the middle to end of next week. The main upper trough will be positioned well to the north of the region but there will be forcing arriving as early as Tuesday or as late as Thursday across northern Oklahoma with a threat of some storm activity.

WARN Interactive Radar

This morning our lows will be in the 50s with highs in the lower to mid-80s along with south winds returning by the midday to afternoon.

Later this afternoon and evening into Friday morning another small complex of thunderstorm activity may be near or slightly west of the area.  Just remain aware that we’ll need to keep a slight chance in the forecast.
