A Tulsa family is missing a precious heirloom – something that's been in the family for more than a century - and thieves are to blame.

The Geddie family said the people who stole their porch swing probably did it for a quick buck; but to them, that swing is priceless, and it’s almost like they lost a member of their family.

The thieves worked quickly early Wednesday morning. In a matter of seconds, they swiped the swing, and it was gone.

"A porch swing? I just, I mean, a car I get it. A laptop, I understand," Dee Dee Geddie said.

But Geddie explains that it's not just a porch swing, it's a family treasure that first belonged to her grandmother.

The swing was passed down from generation to generation for more than a century - five generations in all.

"Everybody has a memory on it. My kids remember watching storms roll in from the west. Everyone has been rocked in it. When a baby is upset, that's where you head - to the swing," she said.

It was a resting place, a babysitter, the backdrop for family pictures, and now it's gone.

"It's an important piece of who we are, and the people who took it, it doesn't mean anything to them," Geddie said.

Geddie’s lived in Maple Ridge her entire life and said crime in her neighborhood has spiked so dramatically over the last few years that she has a hard time keeping up with it all.

She said she knows how it sounds – and in the grand scheme of things she knows it's just a swing - but then again, it isn't.

"They don't know what they took,” she said. “They took a part of our life and our family."

The Geddies filed a police report but they just want the swing back, no questions asked.
