Union City Police Officer James Hall said doctors are calling his son, Jake, “a miracle child.”

Last Monday, Hall’s four children went to church camp. Jake, 15, passed out and became unresponsive. He said Jake was resuscitated twice at camp, and was rushed to The Children’s Hospital at OU Medical Center. Doctors said he suffered a cardiac arrest.

On Saturday, Jake woke up from a state of a coma. And on Tuesday, he was walking and talking, excited to see all the love and support that has poured in.

“I really don’t remember anything about that,” Jake said.

Jake doesn’t recall anything from the days before or after the incident, but his twin brother, Jonathan, does. It’s something he never wants to relive.

Jonathan describes being told his brother was unconscious.

“We went over there and I saw them doing CPR,” Johnathan said.

Jonathan was shocked, and he said he went back to his dorm and cried uncontrollably.

With every squabble and every brotherly fight over the last 15 years, Jonathan said he wasn't ready to see Jake go.

“When I saw him in that position, I said to myself that I wish I could take all of that stuff back," Jonathan said.

Being only a minute apart at birth, these two spent their whole lives together.

Jake is still at the hospital recovering and planning for surgery. Because his oxygen levels are currently unstable, his surgery is pushed to Friday.

Doctors have diagnosed him with Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome, a cardiac disorder. The family is hopeful that Jake’s surgery will fix the problem.

At this time, the family is unsure of what the medical bills will look like. A GoFundMe page was created by the Union City Police Department to raise money for Jake’s medical expenses.
