McClain High School was the place to be Thursday night for a North Tulsa Back-to-School event.
The event, co-sponsored by Tulsa Public Schools and area businesses and organizations, gave teachers, students, and parents a chance to get together before Monday's first day of school.
Tulsa Public Schools Superintendent Deborah Gist is excited about the new school year saying, "We're going to have a great year in Tulsa Public Schools, this is our second year of implementation of destination education. Already we've seen an increase in graduation rates, increase in student engagement which has resulted in really significant decreases in suspensions."
The community food bank was also there to help families in need with the first 200 kids getting backpacks filled with school supplies.
