Police are investigating after woman was found stabbed to death in her apartment.
Police say a person living with the woman found her body inside a unit at the Ivy Place Apartments. It's not clear how long the victim had been there before someone finally found her.
Police say the 56-year-old woman died in her locked apartment, the circumstances around it aren't clear just yet.
It seems there was a struggle based on what it looks like inside and how she died.
Sergeant Dave Walker with Tulsa homicide said a person living with the woman misplaced their key and had to break into the apartment. That's when they found her lying dead near the door.
Sergeant Walker said, “We're trying to work backward because we don't know the last person to see her alive or when she was last seen alive. It could be Thursday or Wednesday."
Police say because the door can be locked without using a key, it's possible that the killer locked the door as they left.
"We're working it that the killer knew the victim. The victim knows a lot of people so we're working that backward and it’s cumbersome," said Walker.
Police haven’t released the name of the victim, but they have said she has a history that involves drugs.
Even with a history of drug use, there's no clear motive or suspect right now.
During the investigation, crime scene detectives questioned neighbors.
While the apartment has had a few minor police call outs, Walker said it's the first homicide.
"The apartment complex didn't bring this to her. I think her life style is what we're looking at."
