TULSA, Oklahoma - The Tulsa Police Department is out in full force enforcing the speed limits in school zones. Officers were set up in school parking lots and areas surrounding Tulsa schools on Wednesday morning and were stopping speeders.

No warnings will be issued for drivers stopped for speeding in school zones, and the fine for the violation is up to $500 plus a court appearance.

TPD recently posted on its Facebook page reminding drivers to keep children safe by slowing down in school zones and avoiding distractions behind the wheel.

"With so many children walking and riding their bikes to and from school, it’s time for all drivers to put down their cell phones and focus on the road," TPD said.
