As expected, the major weather story continues to be Harvey as it churns across south Texas today. It’ll be a completely different story here in Green Country as we have much calmer and more pleasant weather on the way for our Saturday!

Some hit-or-miss light showers and sprinkles will shift across eastern Oklahoma through the morning hours. These will not be a major impact for your outdoor plans, but be aware you could get caught under a brief shower at some point!

Mostly cloudy skies this morning look to become partly sunny by the afternoon hours. Other than a passing sprinkle, it should be great weather for the big-time football game between Broken Arrow and Tulsa Union kicking off at 11 a.m.! Once again we’re looking at below normal temperatures this afternoon with highs in the mid to upper 80s across eastern Oklahoma!

High clouds on the outer edge of Harvey may drift up into southeastern Oklahoma at times this weekend, though again no major impacts are expected for our viewing area. We’ll see temperatures climb a few degrees on Sunday with lows closer to 70 degrees and highs in the upper 80s to around 90. Still, that’s below normal for this time of year!

Speaking of Harvey, it will continue to gradually weaken below hurricane strength later today, as far as winds are concerned. However, Harvey will virtually stall out across south Texas throughout the weekend and into next week, with two to three feet of rain possible in south Texas! This could cause some devastating flooding in that region.

Back here closer to home, an approaching cold front will trigger a few scattered storms Sunday night into Monday morning, primarily for areas from Tulsa to the north. Widespread rain is not expected, but a few isolated strong storms will be possible.

Behind that front, we’ll get a reinforcing shot of drier air which will help keep our temperatures below normal into much of the upcoming week! As Harvey continues to linger across Texas through next week, there are some signs the remnants of that system could bring some showers to Green Country by the end of next week. That is still a long ways out, but we’ll be keeping our eyes on it for you!
