Help is on the way from Tulsa down into Houston and other areas.

Police, fire and emergency management officials from Green Country loaded up a trailer headed for South Texas.

"We're going to go down there and do what we can,” said Tulsa Police Captain Brett Bailey. "We do natural disasters, we do major crime scenes, any large-scale response for the City of Tulsa."

This incident response team has been around for nearly 20 years and has helped in other major disasters like Hurricane Sandy.”

He added, "This is not something brand new to us, but it is going to be something a little bit different because we're going to be further down range where we're actually in more of the disaster area this time.”

And they aren't the only ones headed to help.

A swift water rescue team made up of GRDA police and local firefighters is headed to Houston as well.

The City of Tulsa says while they haven't been asked to take any evacuees, the Red Cross here says they are ready to help if and when the time comes.

The Oklahoma Baptist disaster relief is sending a shower trailer to Texas for first responders working round the clock hours, hours this task force is preparing for.

They're set to stay in the storm zone for the next seven days, however, they say they'll stay longer if they have to.

"That is a bit daunting because there's a whole lot of people that need help,” said Captain Bailey.

And, of course, this is just a fraction of the Oklahomans headed down to Texas. The Oklahoma National guard said they have assets available waiting to be called out if necessary; they say they just need Texas to request them.
