One week after a deadly fire at Tulsa's Sand Dollar apartments, the complex came together Friday to mourn the three people killed and to help their families heal.

The fire left behind charred walls and broken glass and an empty unit that used to be home for several Sand Dollar residents.

The damage is a constant reminder for people in this community of 13-month old Jase DeSalvo, 7-year-old Lilian Thomas and 54-year-old Terry Hargraves, killed in the August 25 fire.

In the wake of tragedy, the managers at Sand Dollar Apartments are hoping to help their residents start the healing process.

They said grief counselors from The Tristesse Grief Center were in the front leasing office for most of the day, providing counseling to any resident that wants to talk.

"Going through all the feelings and learning how to reassilmilate a life without this person in it often requires counseling to just help people process through those feelings and feel reconnected to their community again," said Tristesse Executive Director Lauri Lenora.

Friday evening, residents got together to remember the victims, whose lives were cut short.

A minister prayed with the families and firefighters were also on hand to give fire safety tips.
