We’re basically back to the summer like pattern for the rest of the week with morning lows in the 70s for the metro and highs in the lower or even a few mid-90s. The outlying areas may be a hair lower for morning lows but not much.

South winds will prevail around 15 to 30 mph with muggy conditions across eastern Oklahoma.   The normal high is around 82 to 84 across the eastern third of the state this week and obviously, we’re heading a good 10 above.   It’s not impossible for a few stray or isolated storms for the next few days including today but the overall coverage should remain very low.  I’ll keep a mention for this morning across the northern third of the state where an upper impulse is producing a few scattered storms as we post this discussion.  These may continue along and north of Highway 412 for the first half of the day.

WARN Interactive Radar

A weak front should enter part of the area (along and northwest of I-44) Wednesday but very little storm activity is expected in our immediate area.   There may be a few storms across far north central Oklahoma into southeastern Kansas but I would rather now cast these low chances than include a real pop on the 7 day.

The southwest flow aloft should also bring warmer air off the Mexican plateau region into our area and this should change the temp profile with a decent CAP establishing across most of eastern Oklahoma Wednesday through at least Saturday.

The data has continued to flip around with the potential for a few storms Sunday across eastern Oklahoma with very little consistency in the run to run data.   You’ll probably see a few isolated storm chances for the Sunday period on occasion but the overall odds also appear low.

The main upper pattern with a broad scale trough across the western U.S. should send a system nearing our area early next week with increasing rain and storm chances followed by some more fall-like weather conditions.   Until this happens, we’re back to summer.

Again, remain aware in the short term this morning for a few storms across the northern third of the area into southeastern Kansas.

Thanks for reading the Tuesday morning weather discussion and blog.
