The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says speed was a factor in an injury crash early Thursday on Highway 169, five miles south of the Kansas state line.

Troopers said a northbound 2011 Dodge Charger, driven by 42-year-old Richard Freel of Coffeyville, Kansas, lost control on a curve and hit a barrier.  He along with a 12-year-boy were injured.

Firefighters from Coffeyville, Kansas and South Coffeyville had to free the boy who was pinned in the wreckage.

The OHP says both were taken to a Tulsa hospital in critical condition.
