Wind industry experts say a new move by state lawmakers will drag out in court for years.

House and Senate committees voted to cap state payouts to wind energy companies at $35 million, but the wind industry says the state is backing out on the agreement.

"This is absolutely devastating for the wind industry,” said Mark Yates with The Wind Coalition. “We will have projects that will go bankrupt.”

"We have met the original obligations and we now are obliged to the taxpayers of Oklahoma to strike that balance between being generous to industry to help them be established and being cognizant of the fact that every tax dollar is very precious," said Bartlesville State Senator Julia Daniels.

If the bill passes, the wind industry says it plans to sue the state.
