A Stilwell family is outraged after a man ran a car through half their house but the trooper let him leave without so much as a ticket.

The Williams family said the man who caused the damage only had a learner's permit, the vehicle's insurance was bought an hour after the crash and car's paper tag was bogus.

Mom, dad and six kids were asleep last Tuesday at 4 a.m. when a car slammed into their bedroom, living room and another bedroom, barely missing their 4-year-old by inches.

"He said he fell asleep. He went through our trampoline, our fence, our dog house. He had to be going really fast," Jessie Williams said.

She called 911 but said the man wanted to make a deal.

"I'm like, ‘Make a deal on what?’ ‘The house, with no cops.’ And I said, ‘No. We need to deal with your insurance.’ He said, ‘No insurance. Let's make a deal,’" Williams said.

She said the trooper told her the driver wasn't drunk, that the car owner was following as they worked for a car lot shuttling cars, and had proof of insurance, so they were released.

Williams said the car lot told her the men did not work there and the paper tag didn't belong on that vehicle.

The insurance company told her the owner bought the policy after the crash.

“I'm so mad because if I can see somethings not right, how did it get past the police," Williams said.

OHP said verifying information can take time and they've now issued tickets to the driver for inattentive driving, only having a learner's permit and no insurance, and to the owner for allowing an unlicensed driver to operate a motor vehicle.

"It's is eight people in our family on one income, so all these things we've worked years to get…just gone in seconds, and it's not fair he gets to walk away," Williams said.

If you'd like to help, the family has set up a Go Fund Me account.

The tickets ordered the men to go to Adair County court.
