Watching the teacher protests both here and at the capitol, you can't miss the signs. Some are very functional and straight to the point - others are a little more clever.

There are movie reference signs. Musical takeoffs. They aren't all original, but they're clever just the same.

Governor Mary Fallin has been quite the target. She's drawn as the Joker, as a trickster and with a dunce cap. Others at the capitol are basic and straight to the point.

In Broken Arrow there's a lot of horn honking, and I found the source. His name is Ethan; he's 6 and has a sign that says "Honk to thank a teacher."

Rick Wells: Are they honking?
Ethan: Yes.

There you have it - signs work.
