Metro Double Murder Suspect Surrenders In New Mexico

Oklahoma City police report double murder suspect, Ronald Milton, Jr., 35, turned himself in to a Las Cruces, New Mexico fire station Tuesday.

On April 14th, officers responded to the northwest Oklahoma City home Milton, Jr. shared with his father Ronald Milton, Sr. and sister Brandy Milton. The victims were found dead with gunshot wounds. Clues at the home and Milton, Jr’s missing SUV led investigators to believe he was their suspect.

“He had a murder warrant for his arrest regarding this,” said Msgt. Gary Knight, Oklahoma City Police Department.

Authorities in Las Cruces received a tip that the suspect fled to their city. Police are not sure why he was in Las Cruces or if he was just passing through.

“Last night, just before midnight,” said Dan Trujillo, Las Cruces Police Department. “We learned that he approached firefighters at one of our fire stations.”

Trujillo said the fugitive asked to speak to police.  

“He didn’t mention anything to the firefighters,” said Trujillo. “Anything specific other than he needed to speak to police and then from what I understand he told police that he’s wanted for something bad he did to his family.”

Las Cruces police went to the fire station to meet Milton, Jr., they confirmed he had a murder warrant out of Oklahoma.

“He was taken into custody without further incident,’ said Trujillo.   

He now faces murder complaints in Oklahoma City related to the death of his father, a former metro educator and his sister who was a registered nurse.

Milton, Jr. is being held without bond in the Dona Ana County Detention Center in Las Cruces while he awaits extradition to Oklahoma.
