Our summertime surge continues!  Temperatures are turning hot again this weekend across Green Country.

Areas of morning clouds will gradually give way to mostly sunny skies this afternoon, so keep the sunscreen handy!  Afternoon highs will soar back into the upper 80s east of Tulsa to low 90s west of Tulsa, with stiff south winds continuing to gust to 30 miles per hour at times.  And with humidity slowly increasing, it may feel a bit hotter than what the thermometer reads!

That muggy factor will become more and more noticeable as we head into Mother’s Day Sunday and next week.  We’re looking for a hot Mother’s Day with highs back in the low 90s, but heat index values pushing the mid-90s or higher thanks to higher humidity.  It’ll be a good pool or lake day for mom!

Unfortunately, muggy conditions will be common into much of next week, but thankfully that will come with slowly increasing rain chances as well.  Hot conditions continue into Monday with highs in the low 90s and heat index values in the mid to upper 90s, but a few scattered storms may cool us off by late in the day.

Storm chances increase on Tuesday and look to be highest from Wednesday into Thursday as multiple storm systems slide across the area.  A few strong to severe storms will be possible, but the overall severe weather risk looks low as these storm systems won’t be packing the usual upper-level punch that systems usually have this time of year.  Some locally heavy rains will be possible though, which we certainly need!

Rain chances look to dwindle by late next week, as yet another surge of summertime heat could be settling in by next weekend.  If you’re looking for any sort of big cool-down, you’ll likely have to wait for a while!
