JENKS, Oklahoma - Students at Jenks Public Schools head back to class today.

The district spent the summer adding more security to their schools.  Jenks officials say they used bond money to make sure they had secure entrances at every school.

The district tells News On 6, before this upgrade, it was much easier for someone to walk in the school.  With new security in place, parents, volunteers and substitute teachers will have to use Lobby Guard to gain access.

Official say once a person scans in using Lobby Guard, the system will run a background check. If you are approved, it will print off a badge.

"At Jenks, we want safety to always be the number one priority. We are a place of learning we are an educational institution but learning can't take place if you don't first create that safe environment," said Rob Loeber with Jenks Public Schools.

Jenks Public Schools officials say because of all of these new security measures, picking students up at the end of the day is going to be a little bit different.

The district says it was normal in years past for parents in elementary and intermediate schools to come into the office to pick up their kids.  This year, the district is asking parents to either put your kids on a bus or go through the pickup line after school.
