The north end of Broken Arrow's Rose District will soon be transformed by an $18 million mixed-use development.

Officials planned to break ground Thursday morning on the four-story building at 305 North Main Street; however, the city announced the event will be postponed due to heavy rain.

They have not yet announced the rescheduled date.

The development will eventually have 31,000 square-feet of ground-level commercial space and around 90 new apartments in the levels above. It was designed by Cyntergy Architecture + Engineering, and Cowen Construction is in charge of building, a news release from the city states.

"This is a huge economic development endeavor for our Rose District and community," said City Manager Michael Spurgeon.

"Once complete, this mixed-use project will bring additional density to the downtown area, which is important for increasing daytime traffic to sustain support of our Rose District businesses."
