TULSA, Oklahoma - Tulsa Mayor G.T. Bynum said he’s just as excited as everyone else.

Bynum said he’s thrilled about Gathering Place, but made it clear this is not the end but the beginning of what's to come in Tulsa.

Bynum said the park has turned Riverside Drive into one of the most iconic stretches of road in the United States.

He also believes the park is adding large economic growth to Tulsa to where businesses are now wanting to build next to the park.

"I think 50, 100 hundred years from now, when people look back on the history of Tulsa, they're going to see the opening of this park as the beginning of this new era for our city, where this generation started building the city they wanted to live in," Bynum said.

They will be opening about 70 acres of the park Saturday and more in the future.
