OKCFD Respond To Oil Tank Fire Near OG&E Power Plant

Firefighters are at the scene of a fire near the Oklahoma Gas & Electric Power Plant Complex near Northwest 10th Street and County Line Road. 

The fire was reported about 7:20 a.m. Thursday in the 700 block of N Mustang Plant Road. As of 11 a.m., firefighters continued to monitor the fire as it burned and said they do not think an explosion is likely.

Fire crews reported an insulated oil tank at the plant caught fire. The 7,000 gallon tank owned by ONEOK, Inc. contained heating oil and glycerol. 

Businesses south of the fire, including Lopez Foods near Morgan Road were evacuated.

The cause of the fire has not been determined. No injuries were reported.

The American Red Cross is on the scene to help with hydration of firefighters and will be setting up a canteen in the 400 block of N Morgan Road for those who have evacuated, the fire department said.

The cause of the fire has not been determined. No injuries were reported.
