Above normal temperatures continue Friday, but stay weather aware folks. Severe storms are likely to develop before the day is over!

Areas of dense fog this morning will lead to visibilities below a quarter-mile at times, so drive carefully!

Skies will then turn mostly cloudy as a stronger south wind this afternoon ushers some Gulf moisture back into eastern Oklahoma. Despite the increase in cloud cover, temperatures will still warm well above normal with highs ranging from the low 60s north of Tulsa to the lower 70s across southeastern Oklahoma.

By late afternoon and early evening, the threat for storms will begin to increase. Storms look to become much more likely across eastern Oklahoma after 6 p.m. and continuing through midnight, and any storm that develops could become severe.

Large hail, damaging winds, and – yes – even a few tornadoes are all possible, especially across southeastern Oklahoma. This timing could obviously impact many Friday Night Football games across our area, so please stay weather aware and be ready to head for safe shelter inside as storms develop!

Thankfully, storm chances look to quickly end overnight as this storm system very quickly moves off to our east. Drier air will sweep into eastern Oklahoma on Saturday, with a mix of clouds and sunshine and temperatures closer to normal in the upper 50s to around 60 degrees. Fire danger may be elevated as well on Saturday with gusty westerly winds.

A cooling trend is kicking in this weekend and starting Sunday our winter-like temperatures return! The first of a few surges of cold air moves in on Sunday, keeping our highs in the lower 50s Sunday afternoon. That cold air will get a bigger push to the south on Monday, with temperatures struggling to get out of the 30s and lower 40s. We’ll also have the potential for some very light rain or very light snow on Monday, although amounts look very minimal at this point. We’ll keep you advised!
