Oklahoma is going green as State officials announced $3.1 million will go toward building electric vehicle charging stations throughout the state.
Officials are accepting bids for the installation and operation of charging stations. The 'Charge OK' program is funded by the Volkswagen State Environmental Trust. The trust that was set up after the automaker falsified emission tests.
“As more electric vehicles travel our roads, it’s important that the charging infrastructure be in place to support this new technology,” Secretary of Transportation and ODOT Executive Director Mike Patterson said. “ODOT is happy to help with this effort to bring more charging stations to Oklahoma’s highway corridors.”'
