CLAREMORE, Oklahoma - A Claremore police officer is facing DUI charges after being pulled over last weekend.

Officer Matt Rice was arrested by OHP Saturday night for driving under the influence and booked into Tulsa County Jail. He's since been suspended from duty.

In a statement, Claremore Chief of Police Stan Brown said, "I regret this disappointing behavior from one of our officers and the negative connotations to our many other true and dedicated public servants. I assure all citizens that we will strive to be accountable and transparent in our personal and professional lives to the people to we have sworn to serve."

Brown also said the Claremore Police Department strongly condemns any violation of the law by anyone and particularly by its personnel.
