Someone stole about $6,000 of equipment from Camp Pauline Williams, the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office reports. Undersheriff Jason Chennault said the Girl Scouts of Eastern Oklahoma reported the burglary Tuesday, December 4.
The theft is believed to have taken place during the third week of November, he said in a news release.
Authorities say thieves took lawn mowers, chainsaws, hand tools and welding equipment from the camp. The Sheriff's Office entered serial numbers for most of the equipment into the National Crime Information database.
Camp Williams is located off Highway 80 between Hulbert and Fort Gibson.
Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call Investigator Brad Baker at 918-456-2583.
