Tulsans who have lost a loved one to violent crime gathered Wednesday to remember them.

Family and friends of homicide victims were encouraged to bring a Christmas ornament to the Trees of Remembrance ceremony to honor the memory of those lost.

"Look at all these other people who have been here before. In many respects we are a family," said Tulsa County DA Steve Kunzweiler.

"It's terrible that this many people have to face this, but then it seems like they know how I feel," said Paula Wood, victim's mother.

Participants say the bittersweet event is a way to bond with those who have also lived through tragedy.
