Tulsa 'Fat Guys' Owner Struck And Killed Crossing Highway After Crash
TULSA, Oklahoma - The co-owner of a popular Tulsa restaurant is dead after he was hit and killed by a car on Interstate 244.
Chris Dodge was the co-owner and chef at Fat Guys Burgers in downtown Tulsa. Those who knew him well say they're still trying to deal with the shock of losing him.
Mike Meehan opened Fat Guys Burger Bar with Chris Dodge in 2008. Meehan didn't want to go on camera Thursday, but told me Chris was the perfect teammate.
He says Chris was a talented chef. Meehan says he handled the business side of their popular restaurant, but Chris was the brains behind the menu.
He says everyone is dealing with the shock of losing Chris so suddenly, right here at the holidays, but he wants people to remember Chris was a talented chef, and an even better guy.
OHP troopers say at around 10 p.m. Wednesday, December 19, Chris wrecked his SUV, and then got out and tried to cross the highway.
That's when a mini-van hit him.
Dodge had two dogs with him in his SUV, but they were not hurt. Meehan tells me services for Chris are being planned now.
Meehan wants people to know Fat Guys will go on - it will stay open. He said that's what Chris would have wanted.
