Police issue a warning to anyone who got a gift on Christmas, because your trash could make you a target for thieves.

Just like porch pirates are on the lookout for holiday deliveries, some thieves wait until the days after Christmas to strike.

Police say Christmas trash, like boxes from new TVs, computers or cell phones let criminals know exactly what expensive new item you have in your home.

Police warn before garbage collection day, it's best to keep your boxes inside or in the trash can and out of sight of thieves.

If you want to get rid of your boxes before then, you can always make a trip to your nearby recycling center.

There was no trash pickup on Tuesday because of the Christmas holiday, but Tulsa crews will be out starting Wednesday to pickup the trash left at your curb.

Holiday Schedule

Collection service operates weekly. During weeks that include recognized city holidays (listed below), everyone's collection day will be pushed to the following day to accommodate the disruption in scheduling.

For example, if a holiday falls on a Monday:

  • Those with Monday collection will receive service on Tuesday.
  • Those with Tuesday collection will receive service on Wednesday
  • Those with Wednesday collection will receive service on Thursday
  • Those with Thursday collection will receive service on Friday
  • Those with Friday collection will receive service on Saturday

There will be no collection services on the following holidays:

  • New Year's Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving
  • Christmas Day

Twice-A-Week Collection Schedule

Tuesday | Friday
Wednesday | Saturday
