Guests Take Advantage Of National Visit The Zoo Day

Lots of people took advantage of pretty good weather and $1 admission to enjoy National Visit the Zoo Day at the Tulsa Zoo in Mohawk Park.

I hadn’t been out there in a while so I grabbed Patrick Weisz, the Director of Guest Services, to show me around. He took me first to the Lost Kingdom. He said it just opened last year.

“It’s kind of the first major exhibit of our master plan,” Weisz said.

He said it provides a new home for many animals like the Red Panda,
the Siamangs, and the Tigers. It gives visitors a chance to see the animals both inside and outside.

Floor to ceiling windows give even the smallest guest a chance to be eye to eye with a big cat, and he said The Lost kingdom has done something else.

“It has changed the way people do the Tulsa Zoo. They used to go right(at the entrance) and tour the four buildings, now they come and they go to The Lost Kingdom first,” said Weisz.

Patrick showed me the new home for the Snow Leopards, the Zoo’s new Giraffe calf, and a young Southern White Rhino named Rudo. A fast tour of some new things at the Tulsa Zoo I might not have seen. A Good reason to take advantage of National Visit the Zoo Day.
