Porch Pirates Surprised By Exploding Packages

Porch pirates in Seattle got a little more than they bargained for when a package they tried to steal exploded. Surveillance video from Darrick Smalley's home shows the whole thing.

Smalley said porch pirates are a problem at his house so he had to do something.

Darrick outfitted an Amazon box with a "blank box" which trips two shotgun shell primers when it's pulled off the porch. He put the bait boxes on his porch four nights before Christmas.

"They know what they're doing is wrong. And so when that noise goes off they don't really want to stick around for the consequences," Smalley said.
