Investigators in Big Cabin say a victim previously believed to be shot was not shot but rather had been severely pistol whipped.

The chief of police in Big Cabin says Kevin Smith's injuries were so serious detectives thought he had been shot.

Police arrested Erik Goins near Chelsea for the assault after they say he ran from police.
