SPAVINAW, Oklahoma - A man was killed when his home burned down outside Spavinaw Wednesday.  The home is near the Spavinaw River in Mayes County.

Major Rod Howell with the Mayes County Sheriff's Office said they got the call just after 10 a.m. about a house fire with a man possibly trapped inside. Firefighters responded but were not able to save the man who lived there.

The home was completely destroyed.

The State Fire Marshal's Office was called in to investigate the fire, but they don't think it's suspicious. Authorities believe it was a accidental fire but are going through the wreckage to learn its exact cause.

Authorities have not released the man's name as they are notifying his family.
