StormTracker Von Castor On The Road To Keep You Safe

When the weather turns severe, News On 6 has the largest team of storm trackers keeping Oklahomans safe. Von Castor has been tracking storms for 33 years.

“They need boots on the ground and that's us,” says Castor. “That's why we're there to warn people ahead of time, and hopefully they can take their precautions to be safe."

Castor captured video of a tornado on the ground near Cookson back in November.

“I've been notified by several people that, you know, we were watching your live stream, we were watching Channel 6 and if it had not been for your reports we would not have known to take cover,” Castor says.

He says a night of tracking storms for the News On 6 weather team is organized chaos.

“What that means,” says Castor, “it looks like it's chaos from the outside, but we're very organized, and we know where each other is.”

Von stresses while they never want to see anybody hurt or killed, storm trackers want to see mother nature at its worst or at its finest.

“They really appreciate what we do out there and the work that Channel 6 weather, that our WARN Team does,” says Castor.
