A Tulsa Contractor says thieves took a $20,000 excavator off his property, and a surveillance camera shows it all. He's working on a big project on Cherry Street and until that equipment is recovered, he’s getting behind.

Novelty Construction Owner Joey Arnold says they've been working on the site since November, and everything has been fine until Sunday.

He showed up to work on Monday morning at the commercial project he's working on along Cherry Street and noticed his excavator was missing.

"First I thought maybe one of the guys had moved it to a different place around so I walked around the property and obviously didn’t see it," said Joey Arnold.

Surveillance video from a nearby business shows a Silver Dodge Ram with a trailer pulling up to the site on Sunday morning at 8:42, and they were gone in 14 minutes.

“There’s also a lot of cars in this area at that time because of mass at the church so they kind of planned it," said Arnold.

Arnold says they were able to use a universal key to start it and load it right onto the trailer.

“It’s a $20,000 piece of equipment that I don’t have anymore that I use almost on a daily basis so replacing it is going to be tough,” said Arnold.

Arnold says this piece of equipment is essential to his everyday work.

Now he has to rent one until he can replace it, but it's an unexpected added expense.

“That takes money from the job, and you can’t really pass that onto the customer,” said Arnold. “That’s not their issue. It's mine - so being a small business owner it really has an effect.”

Now he's just hoping someone will recognize this truck, so Tulsa Police can find the people who did this.

"You keep your fingers crossed, but in the meantime,  I’m already having to buy another piece of equipment because I have to keep going," said Arnold.

Arnold says in the future he will change a few things like putting a GPS tracker on it, and changing the key from the universal model, and says he also plans not to leave it on site anymore.
