Mexico's Popocatepetl volcano erupted early Wednesday morning in a dramatic show of ash, water vapor and gas.

The first eruption spewed ash followed by incandescent rock.

Shortly after sunrise a new plume of ash and gas emerged reaching some 3,200 feet into the air.
