Tulsa Police Release Name Of Woman Found Dead In City Jail

Police released the name of a woman who died in the Tulsa City Jail.

Officers said Lawanda Ward was in jail for 6 misdemeanor warrants including failure to appear. She was left breakfast in her cell and was later found unresponsive.

Paramedics took her to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.

While police don't believe the death to be suspicious, they've asked the OSBI to perform an independent investigation.
