Tulsa Police: 1 Person Dead, Another In Custody After Shooting Near Hotel

Tulsa police said they are investigating a shooting near the Tudor House Inn in the area of Admiral and Sheridan. 

Officers said one man was shot and another person is in custody. The victim, Demario Johnson, was found with a gunshot wound to his torso. He was taken to a hospital where officials said he later died. 

Officers said Peter Glen Williams was named as the suspect. 

"We are bringing a whole bunch of witnesses right now to the detective division to talk to them. We have video to go through, but we do have a suspect in custody," said Lt. Brandon Watkins, Tulsa Police’s Homicide Squad.

Police said they the suspect threw a gun onto the roof of a nearby building. 

"There was a weapon that was thrown up on top of the building. Down here on Admiral there's a lot of witnesses, so it was pretty easy to find," said Watkins.

Watkins said witnesses were able to help police identify a suspect.

"They knew who the suspect was. There were a lot of witnesses to it. They named a suspect pretty early and they hadn't made it very far. Officers did an outstanding job," said Watkins.

As police continue to talk with witnesses they said they are glad more people were not hurt.

"We are fortunate that more people don't have a bullet hole in them today," said Watkins.

Williams was arrested on complaints of first-degree murder and possession of a firearm.
