Oklahomans are using signs to encourage one another.

Linda Nguyen of Moore commissioned a large sign reading, “all in this together,” for her Avondale neighborhood.

“We’re all in this together kind of lifts everybody’s spirit so that way they can be a little bit happier,” Nguyen said.

Nguyen first ordered the sign to surprise her husband, a health care worker who has been keeping himself quarantined to protect family.

However, Nguyen decided to display a message everyone could relate to.

“I wanted to show everybody that I appreciate them for what they’re doing, working on the front line of this pandemic, really it takes all of us to come together,” Nguyen said.

Nguyen said the sign has spread joy throughout the neighborhood and on social media.

Similar signs are popping up around the Oklahoma City area. Many originated from the same company Nguyen used, Sign Gypsies.

Local owners of Sign Gypsies franchises have been leaving messages like, “heroes work here,” outside area hospitals.

“How can we make this super unfortunate situation into something awesome? So, it kind of started like that and this has been the biggest month we’ve ever had at Sign Gypsies,” Edmond Owner Sallie Sells said.

The signs are loaned or rented out temporarily.

Nguyen said the sign she commissioned will be in her Moore neighborhood until Tuesday.

“Messages like this or phone calls, I think, really brightens up people’s day,” Nguyen said.
