Oklahoma High School Students Receive Top Prize For Research

Two Oklahoma high school students were honored for research entry into the nation's premier science research competition for high school students.

AUSTIN, Texas -- Two Oklahoma high school students were honored for research entry into the nation's premier science research competition for high school students.

Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics student Benjamin Zhou and Norman North High School student Zhongshi Wang were named team regional winners at the Siemens Competition in Math, Science & Technology in Austin, Texas for their research on producing hydrogen-based energy from wastewater.

Zhou and Wang received a $6,000 scholarship for their microbiology research project. The team will now advance to the finals in Washington, DC next month where they will compete for a $100,000 scholarship.
