Beginning January 2020, News On 6's Alex Cameron will begin a new assignment reporting full-time from Washington, D.C.

"As sad as I am to leave the noon news, I am excited to help the station step up its commitment to keeping you informed, entertained and safe," Cameron said.

During his Dec. 11 interview at News On 6, Cameron discussed his new position, where he will be stationed, how close he will work with politicians, and the many things he said he will miss about reporting from Oklahoma.

Roiled by impeachment proceedings and 2020 election talk, Congress still has real work to do -- on defense spending, health-care costs, energy policy and much more. There could be no more appropriate time to have someone in Washington to report on it all.

Cameron will be the only Oklahoma reporter to office in D.C. where he will produce content specifically for Oklahomans on topics and issues that affect the state and its citizens.

An award-winning journalist, Cameron has been with Griffin Communications since 1995 and has anchored several newscasts while also reporting on stories both large and small. He has also traveled the world covering stories that impact Oklahoma.

Cameron has covered many of the biggest stories to impact Oklahomans, which include the trial of Timothy McVeigh, the Oklahoma State University plane crash tragedy, Base Realignment and Closure, and the Oklahoma City Thunder move to Oklahoma City.

Cameron is known as the reporter to sit down with for newsmakers – some of his most hard-hitting interviews have included Governor Kevin Stitt, Mayor David Holt, Representative Kendra Horn, former Chesapeake CEO Aubrey McClendon, and former OU Presidents David Boren & James Gallogly.
