Mounds Police said a student is in custody after threatening to shoot other students at Mounds Public Schools Friday, September 20.
A 12-year-old said he was going to go home to grab a gun then come back to school and carry out the shooting, according to police.
Chief Antonio Porter said on Facebook that he was notified of a verbal threat that a student was going to shoot up the school. After they found it was a credible threat, they quickly detained the student.
"The student was immediately taken into custody this morning. Please know that everything is OK at the school," he said.
Parents received a phone notification from the district Friday morning, he said.
The student is being held in the juvenile detention center. His name has not been released due to his age.
