A man is behind bars in Muskogee, accused of stabbing another man to death. Muskogee Police said it happened Tuesday night in the Lakeland Shopping Center parking lot.
Officers said when they arrived, they found Keith Boswell unresponsive and bleeding from a stab wound to his chest. Muskogee EMS transported him to St. Francis Muskogee, where he was pronounced dead.
After viewing surveillance video and speaking with witnesses, police brought in a K-9 officer and set up a perimeter in the area of the shopping center. A short time later, officers arrested Johnathan Zamudio for the crime.
Investigators believe the two men knew each other, and may have even gone to Lakeland together. They believe the two men got into some kind of altercation.
Boswell's niece, Sherry Sowers, said if the men knew each other at all, it was for a very short period of time. At this point, she and her daughter, Chelsea Richardson, said all they want to know is why her uncle was killed.
"Alls we want is answers at this point. We want to know why it happened," Richardson said.
Sowers said it was her dad who called her Tuesday night with the devastating news.
"He said, 'I hate to have to tell you this, but your Uncle Keith's gone,'" she recalled.
Sowers admits her uncle had issues of his own, but regardless, she said he deserved better.
"Nobody's perfect," she said. "He by no means deserved what he got. He didn't deserve to die a young man."
This is Muskogee’s second homicide of the year.
