A Sapulpa street is back open after an overturned semi truck shut down the street for much of Monday morning, July 29.
The dairy tanker, which weighed around 50,000 pounds, flipped on 49th West Avenue near West 61st Street around 4 a.m. Officers said the driver was leaving QuikTrip but had trouble seeing because of the heavy rain.
He misjudged his turn and hit the curb - flipping over, according to Lieutenant Terry Wiggs with Sapulpa Police.
"He said the truck kinda baffled on him a little bit, and he struggled to get control of it and he was over the curb too far," Lt. Wiggs said.
The truck hit a light pole and snapped a power line. It took two large wreckers to lift the semi after the contents were drained.
Police said the driver made it out of the truck and is doing OK.
